Magnet links in firefox

Hi,
I have tried to add in to firefox "network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet"
The status, type, value does not want to change.
The status cannot be toggled. How do I change it?

cheers

So I've found magnet files to work with Firefox.

I'm assuming you have a bittorrent application installed?

In the first place, are you able to download .torrent files and use them?

Sorry, not totally sure what you're trying to do except make it so that Firefox points to the torrent application when a magnet link is clicked on. Where are you trying to do this, under Edit->Preferences? What tab or option are you trying to configure?

Note also that there are so called magnet links which try to run their own installer. I have found some bittorrent engines which offer you magnet links such as this, however they also offer the capability to download the .torrent file, and as a result I end up downloading that file and using it versus trying to run via their supplied magnet link, because the magnet link tries to run an EXE which is not applicable in Linux, nor would I desire that situation were I to be using Windows either.

This worked for me, FF 47, Debian 9, KDE 5:
1. In about:config find "network.protocol-handler.expose-all", change to "false";
2. Click on some magnet link - a file browser pop-up should appear, show it full path to the executable (/usr/bin/qbittorrent for ex.);
3. Change "network.protocol-handler.expose-all" back to "true";
4. Download the world.
