Magazine article index software
 

Hi,
I am looking for a bit of advice to set me off on the right foot. I have a pile of magazines that I would like to index, as I never know where i saw a reference to something when I need it.
I want some form of simple to use database that allows me to enter some details about each article so that I can quickly find them by product, category, rating, or whatever i choose. Can anyone recommend a package that is good for this? I am running Mandrake 9.0, so something that can run in this would be helpful!

I hear MySQL is good (from coworkers), but I don't do databases.
