Macros under RedHat 8.0

I am not a very good typist. I especially tend to transpose letters and hit extra keys. In Linux I need to use the mouse to place the cursor next to the mis-typed letters and then move to the keyboard to make the correction.

That is annoying and time consuming.

Under Windows I used a program called Macro-Express to be able to correct transpositions by clicking the mouse on a part of the desktop. I progammed the middle mouse button to do "Backspace"

Are there ways of doing either--or better both--of those under RedHat 8.0?

I use Star Office 6.0 as my wordprocessor.

Thanks Richard

A long time ago I mapped a mouse button to be recognized as F13 on the keyboard. Can't remember how though, but it should work for the backspace key as well. A lot of people wants to remap their extra mouse buttons to change desktops... See if you can find one of those threads -it should be a similar solution.
