mac osx leopard
 

To the whole linux community,

I have recently updated my macbook pro to mac osx 10.5 leopard and I did this because I know bootcamp is installed on this new version. What I need help with and what I want to do is instead of installing windows as the second program on bootcamp I would like to install xubuntu. I have the cd of xubuntu 7.10 gutsy gibbon and I know that xubuntu wants 2 partitions on the hard drive. What I am unsure of is what the partitions are titled and how much space I need. In xubuntu I am at the point of installation where the hard drive needs to be partitioned. In bootcamp I chose the minimum of space on the mac osx hard drive for xubuntu to be installed, the minimum being 5 gb. Should I do this manually or should I just go with the default specifications that xubuntu gives me. I also need the reassurance that xubuntu will not take over the whole hard drive for itself and just throw mac osx out of the hard drive because I bought the mac for the final cut pro program and other programs that only run on the mac. If I do need to do it manually can one of you linux geniuses walk me through the xubuntu installation step by step beginning with the partioning portion. I do not yet know how to partition a hard drive manually to get the optimum performance out of my laptop. I have been wanting this for a long time, to run not at the same time but as two separate partitions on the macbook pro mac osx and xubuntu. If this can be done can you walk me through it step by step so I can get the optimum performance out of my macbook pro 15" laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
