LVM layout

Hello,

We configure our servers with LVM. But we have some questions about the layout we can use.

Our small servers only have 2 disks of 70GB (HW RAID: RAID-1), so we create 1 VolumeGroup with some logical volumes:

/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-rootlv
8063408 3443308 4210500 45% /
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-appslv
20417652 86068 19299524 1% /apps
/dev/sda1 101086 12541 83326 14% /boot

/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-u7lv
30740212 190488 28993504 1% /u7
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-varlv
14356784 378456 13254284 3% /var

The bigger machines have 4 disks (2 disks of 70GB HWRAID: RAID-1 and 2 disks of 250GB HWRAID: RAID-1). What's the best layout? (considering performance, restore/recovery, management, ...)

* 1 VolumeGroup with the 4 disks (2 disks because we use RAID-1) and the same configuration as our small servers?

* 2 VolumeGroups, the 70GB disks -> VolumeGroup00, the 250GB disks -> VolumeGroup01
