lvm anyone?

I'm interested in lvm as an alternative to regular partitions and guessing at what the best allocation for those partitions should be. Does anyone have any good experiences or horror stories they would like to share about lvm?

In my short experience with LVM, I learned that it was for people who have lots of empty disk space and don't know how it will be distributed in the future or for people who have multiple hard disks and want a partition to appear to spread across these disks.

I'm not an expert, but that's what I gathered from the literature I read. However, for me, I went back to regular partitions due to a problem I had when I tried to resize that made my system unbootable.

If you're the type of person who only adjusts their partitions when they install the OS, then I wouldn't recommend LVM.

Just my 2 cents.
