I have a pc without cdrom and i can't add a new cdrom drive(problem with motherboard) but i can use my floppy drive so i need a version of unix/linux on floppy disk plz give a good link for downloading the unix/linux on floppy disk

salut -- désolé pour l'impolitesse de certains gens, ici.

il y a debian qui roule très bien à partir de deux disquettes «floppy» seulement.
visitez http://www.debian.org/distrib/index.fr.html pour plus d'information.
normalement il suffit de charger les données, les mettre sur disque via `rawrite' ou qqe chose de similaire, et voilà -- le reste de la distribution est chargé via votre connection internet par la suite.

le probleme de rouler seulement sur disquette est la quntité dinfo que tu doit transférer. A moin que tu possede une connection haute vitesse sur cette ordinateur (ce qui me parait plutot impossible etant donner que tu ne peux pas avoir de CD drive) il te faut un systeme linux sans interface graphique ou un interface graphique tres basic. Je recommande comme la personne viend de le dire, Debian 3.0 ou si tu veux quelque chose de moin difficile a apprendre, malgre que sans interface graphique sa ne change pas grand chose, tu peux toujours aller faire un tour de slackware (je suis pas sur sil y a une version pour disquette, mais je crois www.slackware.org

the problem with installing a linux distribution from floppy disk is the amount of data to be transfered and since i presume you dont have an high speed internet connection (which would be weird to have if you cant have a CD drive) you would have to stay with a non graphical linux distribution or a very basic one to reduce the amount of data to be transfered. I recommand, just as the guy before did, Debian 3.0 but if you want something a slightly easier to configure (even if you are using a non graphical interface, both are mostly going to be the same thing) you might look at Slackware

It's not impoliteness, it is stated in the forum rules that the language for the forum is English. Not because of a superiority complex, but because it allows the most participation. If people speak a language other than English, not only can most people not understand them, but the moderators may be unaware if other forum rules are broken.

As for the original problem, a decent linux system would take a VERY long time to install from floppy disk. Could you attach a CD rom drive to your computer by USB?
