luks cryptsetup and lvm question

I have an lvm logical volume that is encrypted with LUKS cryptsetup. My question is that if a extend the lvm volume will it break luks? from what i understand luks does not encrypt the whole disk but instead keeps some information at the beginning of the partition and then encrypts/decrypts data as you read/write from the drive. If this is the case then I could extend the partition without breaking LUKs and also have the new data be encrypted also.

Will this work or will extending the logical volume break luks/cryptsetup?

thanks

this will work without problem. The only part that needs to remain unencrypted is the /boot partition.

ok so just extend the parition then resize as normal and cryptsetup will not have a problem remounting it and encrypting the data on the new space?

Things like this show me the the true power of linux x)

yes, you resize as normal with lvextend or whatever, then encrypt the 'new space' with cryptsetup (cryptsetup resize /dev/mapper....).
