LTSP - Client PC

I've set-up a SuSE as a Server and got LTSP working fine on it. All the services are up and runing without an issue.

The proplem comes in on my client PC. I've set up a direct connection to the server (with a crossover cable) and I'm running a PXE-network card to access the LTS.

The problem comes in when I boot it up. Technically speaking it should boot up... because it comes to the point where it actually displays:

Uncompressing Linux.... Ok. booting the kernel

But it hangs there.

I've tried everything on the server to try and reconfigure it. Does anyone know of this error and (hopefully) of a possible solution?

I'll keep on trying to figure out something on my side.

Thanks

I had the same problem. What was causing my error as more than 1 DHCP server on the same subnet. Basically they were battling for control.

Being linked directly with a X-over would in theory bypass this problem but it may be an angle of attack for you

Hmm

I had problems setting up mine too with DHCP. It turns out that LTSPAdmin sets it's own DHCPd server up. so if you have SuSE installed with it's own DHCPd installed then it could be causing problems. Try uninstalling SuSE's DHCPd and then reinstalling LTSP.

Oh and how did you get the PXE booting setup on the server side, config wise... I can't find documentation on it.
