Lowrance-capable GPS software?

Is there any decent moving-map software out there that will communicate with a Lowrance unit? I intend on getting a cable for my GPS soon, and would like to know what there is out there that will work with it. I know there's a butt-load of Garmin-compatible stuff out there, but have seen nothing for Lowrance. I mostly want to trade waypoint and map infos between my Linux box and the GPS unit, so I want it to work with most of the available map formats.

I believe every NMEA capable unit can be used with POSIX systems. So it's actually not Garmin but NMEA what is supported.

I know all the software I've found specifically says it's designed to work with Garmin units, and doesn't mention anything about it specifically being NEMA.
