lost mail on mozilla-thunderbird

I did an "apt-get -u dist-upgrade" just earlier. Mozilla-thunderbird, among other things, was upgraded. I then reboot, having just upgraded my kernel. After the reboot I soon launch up mozilla-thunderbird only to discover that all my mail's gone. I had some very important mail in there.

I always used just the default profile so that's not it.

Has this happened to someone? Where does mozilla-thunderbird keep my mail and how? Does anyone have an idea of what I can do? Please?

Yeah, this happened to me too. The mail is there, for some reason thunderbird wanted to switch to using another directory. Tools / Account Settings / Server Settings / Local folder - browse to your ~/.mozilla-thunderbird/default/<something>/Mail/ directory and choose your local directory. For me, a new directory was also created (~/.mozilla-thunderbird/default.0hi) but the mail in that one was empty, and thunderbird used that after installing. I removed it.

Hope that makes sense
