lost in jungle

I know c/c++, but i didn't write a program in Linux. I have no idea where to look for a complete programming solution (best editor, good compiler, etc). I don't want to lose time... I just want somebody show me the truth.

You could try out Emacs (good ol' text editor) or there are special Gnome and KDE programming software that will serve you quite well.

c for linux = gcc (GNU Compiler)

Editors for Linux are multitudinous. I'd recommend vim which has vi style interface. Many developers like emacs but in most shops I've worked in System Admins (like me) refuse to load emacs because vi/vim is so readily available. vim is a full screen editor.

There are plenty of ways, just like in Windows you have to use a GUI toolkit as C++ has no native GUI libraries. The ones for Linux are Qt (the one KDE uses) or GTK (the one GNOME uses).

Install the package 'kdevelop' and you'll have a full development environment that lets you create GUI or non-GUI apps.
