loss of X display?

So i have a fresh install of Arch. I installed xorg, gnome,gnome-extra, fluxbox, mythtv with all the plugins.
I am using GDM to autologin using fluxbox, and i have mythfrontend starting automatically.
I have it connected to an HDMI switch, that is hooked up to my tv. If i switch to another input for a while and then go back to my mythtv input, the screen is black.
If i touch some keys on my keyboard, nothing, but if i do ctl-alt-f1 and then ctl-alt-f7, it will bring me back to my desktop.
Any ideas of what is going on?
