Looking for the best Linux applications to do animation

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for the best possible programs on Linux to do professional video/cartoon animation. I've looked at a few solutions that are non-free like Anime Studio Pro, but unfortunately I've been told it won't be compatable with my system and it's not being updated due to lack of interest on the Linux platform.

What I'm looking for is something like Anime Studio Pro, that will allow me to do high quality vector based animation.

I've looked at Synfig studio, but the quality of animations is kind of lacking and I'd like the power I've seen in Anime Studio Pro.

Is there a product, whether it's payware or OpenSource available on Linux that will do high quality vector based animation like Anime Studio Pro?

I googled & found this http://www.animationprograms.biz/top...tion-programs/
I do know someone who used Maya professionally & he seemed to think it was good.

I don't think Maya would work considering I'm looking at 2d vs 3d.

I hear Blender highly recommended.

http://www.blender.org/

I gather the interface has a rather steep learning curve, but what that what Blender does it does quite well.

Might play with this and see if it suites your needs. http://www.synfig.org/cms/

Blender has been one of the best choices for years and years.

I don't know whether it does animation, but Inkscape is a vector gfx program.
