looking for stickies, post-it notes; suggestions?

i'm lookin for an app on linux that acts like lil post-it notes on my desktop.
Its called stickies on windows and mac, but from what i could turn up on google and the other linux forums that i frequent, haven't seen anything like it

i've seen that in linux, when you make an app, or a window, stay on all desktops, its called a sticky, but thats not exactly what i'm looking for. I just want a text file thats always open on my desktop with a to-do list n freq used info.

any suggestions?

There are desktop applets which do this. How you do it depends on the desktop.

eg. in gnome, rt-click a panel, select "add to panel" and click "sticky notes". gdesklets also has a similar thing. Kde had knotes. And so on.

More generically, look at s-notes:
