Looking for good music composing softwares

Hi,
I was formerly a Windows user, and I like to use my computer to create some music.
I used Buzz a lot (an excellent freeware software synth / tracker), and SOundForge and Acid as well.

Do you happen to know any possible equivalents for these programs? Googling around I heard about Rosegarden, Audacity, Ardour and some others, but they all seem to be quite midi oriented, and I'm not interested in midi, just plain old audio.

I'm especially looking for a good synth or tracker (if you happen to know Buzz then tou should figure what I'm looking for).

Thanks a lot for your hints.

I'm using Wine to figure out a way to use buzz under Gnome. I will edit this post later when I have tested it.

Hi,

I had no success using wine.

I used cvswinex which worked really good.

Cedega works well, but you might have to delete some machines from your /gear, because some of them crash the program.

I wish you luck!

PS : I still haven't found any music software that could compare to Buzz. I have tried many, though!! Linux is really missing such a program.

www.skale.org - an oldschool tracker (think FastTracker II) with some new features and a fruity loops-wannabe interface.
