Looking for an Adobe Premiere-type film editing program for Linux

I'm going to be doing some video editing (from DV cameras), and am looking into a program to use to capture, edit, and add effects to the film. Something along the lines of adobe premiere or ulead video studio.

i am running an x86 on debian sarge.

There's kdenlive, but i think it's at quite an early stage of development at the moment - i've given it a quick try and it looks promising - might be one to watch...
