Looking for a tutorial on how to compile mplayer for Ubuntu
 

I'm looking for a program to compile mplayer for Ubuntu. I need to install a joystick to control mplayer and there doesn't seem to appear to be a way to do this with the binary version in the repository. I had recently reinstalled my Ubuntu due to new hardware, on my old Ubuntu I had compiled mplayer with instructions I had found online. These instructions were geared towards compiling a feature rich version of mplayer. However, I can't seem to find these again so I decided to try my luck on the forums. Thanks for any help!
