Looking for a Linux Program
With windows I could use: DVD X Copy & Top Secret Mega CD
for all of my backing up & CD Burning needs.
Since I ditched Windows, what program works on Mandrake Linux 9.1 that could replace these? any help is greatly appreciated...
"k3b is not an option here", because it has way too many dependency of dependency problems, been trying to find dependencies of dependencies of dependencies of this program for 21/2 weeks now, I'm not spending any more time on that wanna be program!!!

I asked this question a few weeks ago and got a reply of Acidrip. Dvd:Rip is also nice if your into MPEG. I installed Acidrip a few days ago but haven't tried it yet, and don't download the Rpm it did not work for me. Sometimes .tar is the way to go. Let me know how it turns out.

Just use the Install Software program in Mandrake instead of trying to install individual rpms off the cds. It'll auto select and install all dependancies. K3b worked out of the box with my install, just select it and all is done for you.

That is exactly how my k3b got installed, however if you go to the k3b setup and hit next, "if yours is like mine" you will see what still isn't loaded, and this I believe is why I can't backup a DVD, or Playstation game... You are right, that is definately the esiest way by a long shot...

video dvd::rip is a great program for backing up dvd's to a number of different formats, e.g. divx, svcd, and ffmpeg. Cdrdao is great for audio cds and backing up playstation cds.

You can visit the dvd::rip homepage for info on rpms and installation. As for frontends for cdrdao, I use SimpleCDR-X for burning and the command line for ripping. Check out this site for info on using it for PSX backing up.

apt4rpm.sourceforge.net
apt-get update
apt-get install perl-Video-DVDRip
on RH9, as long as all the RPM's are in the cooker though then you should be good to go.
apt will sort out your dependancies and install everything for you.
