Question Looking for a good program to display a simple window

Hey, everyone.

I'm looking for a program, that from within a bash script can open a window, and load a picture, kind of like gdialog or zenity, but one that is standard. Or maybe a program that lets you create windows and compile the program, to simply execute. I have no knowledge of C, C++, or Java, only Perl. Does anyone know what program could do this?

Thanks in advance,
Daniil.

Doesn't Perl have some GTK bindings that could be used? Of course, the user would have to have it installed, but I believe it is fairly common.

If you are looking for something that is going to be in any stock distro, I think you are out of luck. Even relatively popular software like Zenity isn't necessarily going to be installed on every machine. Unless there is some basic tool that ships with X itself (there are a lot of odd little gadgets and toys they bundle into the XOrg distribution), though I am not personally aware of it.

Well then, is there a graphical environmwnt where I can easily create a window out of objects and then the environment would generate the C code, then compile it into an executable? That would be awesome.
