Welcome to LQ stingy :)

Can you let me know whether you are able to see the grub splash screen or not?

amit

Well, after all the delays I can choose which OS to load, if thats what you mean

I can't say for sure......but this has happened with me too....earlier grub used to load quickly on my machine too....but once, I had a kernel panic..so I had to reinstall grub...and since that time, grub loads but with a small delay.....

Seems like in your case, that delay time is quite more......

Well...frankly, I can just suggest you try and reinstall grub again...Quite possible that grub may start loading quickly after you reinstall it.....

If you would like to go ahead with reinstalling grub, follow this method for RED HAT 9

1. Log in as root

2. give the following command

/sbin/grub-install <your-hard-disk-device-name>

for example, if linux is installed on your first hard disk then the command will be:

/sbin/grub-install /dev/hda

3. Reboot

This process is only for Red Hat 9....If you have some other distro....the procedure may be slightly different...If this is the case, wait for more suggestions....

Regards,

amit
