What are you trying to achieve? Mount a novell share? Run a console?
Be more specific, please.

Cheers,

I wanna access some files..Its a novell server.I can login with Windoze using the netware file sharing protocol (enabled in the network connection manager) .

The problem is that the server is not on the same Subnet.I'm on subnet 89 to 94 and the server is on the 53.Its obvious that I cannot ping it...

One of my co-worker did something on my host and he could see the server but it was not possible to get the login prompt

Let me know if you need more info please.

And thanks!

It's interesting that you said you are not in the same network ,but
you friend could access the file list that mean's the network's ok .
Maybe the server blocked the ping ,so be sure you have the right priviliege.

opss..sorry,I am on the same network but the server is on a different Subnet..My mistake(It was early in the morning,I havent had my coffee yet).Basically, i work at a University and the Campus is very large...There i a server for IT's only and I need to access it.Its no big deal if there is no way of getting tru cause I have a Dual boot Machine.Just that it gets me angry to always boot into Windoze,Login into the Server, then reboot back in linux, mount the NTFS partition, copy the downloaded files from MS to my Linux OS...oufff...Why is this gota be so complicated...but then again its a windoze world out there!

Its the protocol that I need.I need the same Protocol as the Windoze "Netware file sharing".

Anyways, let me know if you have a solution anybody

You'll need the latest version of
ftp://platan.vc.cvut.cz/pub/linux/ncpfs/
and make sure that ncpfs support is in
the kernel, too.

I've been successfully using Novell shares on
different subnets & vlans, so it can be done :}

One of the important things (if I remember correctly
from one on my previous employments) is that you
choose the right frametype - either check your
windblows install for its settings, or ask your IT
supportniks what they're using.

Tink

I just got in to work.I'ved installed NCPFS.

Hum...I'm reading and reading...No luck yet.

ipx_configure
ipx_configure: socket: Address family not supported by protocol

The kernel does not support it?

I'll get it running.even if it takes me a year

Thanks again!

Pity to hear you're not being lucky here.

I don't use Centos, so don't know it very well; if you can't
find a kernel that supports the IPX stuff (mind you, most modern
Novell installs will be using TCP anyway - did you check with
your techies?) it might be time to recompile it yourself...

Grab a kernel source packet, fire up make menuconfig (or make
xconfig, whichever works best for you) and find your way through
the menu tree :}
