login probs


hi i just installed a copy of rh9

i enter my username and login details

root as usrname
and my password

it hangs
and then goes back to localhost login screen

i dont get it

looping like crazy


im a newbie to *nix btw

I assume you're talking about GDM or KDM. Can you login from the CLI? Press Crtl+Alt+F1 to switch to a virtual terminal, and try to login. Switch back to X with Crtl+Alt+F7. If you can login via the CLI, your desktop manager has disabled root access by default. There should be a settings option to change this on the login screen.
