Login Problems with KDE 3.2.1

I just upgraded to kde 3.2.1 today on my slackware box. My login works fine in kdm, b/c it's got a password, but the rest of my family used to have passwordless login. Now since the upgrade, they cannot access their accounts. I even added a password into the account, and still no go. It says "login failed' every time. I do have the boxes checked for "passwordless login" in the login manager in control center...
what can i do?
is this a bug documented?

also, i create a new account, and from that account, modem comes up "no carrier" where as with my account it dials... same config.. .what's up with this?

first come out of X.
then do this as root:
genkdmconf --no-old

This will rewrite the kdm configs. Now whatever changes u do in the control centre will affect kdm
ALL the best!
