Logging not working - red hat 4

Hi Everyone,

I have a funky problem that I have never seen before. I setup 4 linux servers or the last week, all the same. Default red hat installs, I setup logwatch.

Some where in there, one of my machines logging got screwy. Logs such as secure, and maillog are all being logged to secure.1 and maillog.1.

Any reason as why? Where do I go about changing this back so they log properly, so I can get my logwatch reports.

I added other stuff to the system, but I don't recall touching anything that messes with logging, I install stuff like mysql, rkhunter, yum.

Any direction you can point me would be appreciated, I have no idea where to look.

Well, for now, it seems to work. I have no idea why though. I just rebooted the server.
