logging in proftpd

okay I got proftpd installed and everything and I can connect to it, but when I type in a username or password it says Login incorrect. I type in my regular username and it doesn't work and I've treid root too. Do I somehow allow which users are allowed to log in?

How are you loggin in or are you using a particular client or from the command line to FTP? Can you login locally, like using:

ftp localhost

Try loging in with a username and password that you have created on the server.

Hm...Are you using the default installation of proftpd for Slackare? If so, then it should already let all of the users log in, starting in their home directory. What kind of error are you getting - an incorrect username / password? If so, then you might have to edit your proftpd.conf.
