Location of Thunderbird Application folder

Hi there I have a gentoo install of Thunderbird and am trying to collect all my webmail and university email into one email program. I've read that this option is available throught the Webmail extension in thunderbird. Unfortunately having installed it. The option to enable tells me I need t o have write priviledges to the application folder when i run it as normal user. If i start the program as root, the option appear in add email wizard. However as normal user this option is not present. I was wondering if anyone knew which folder i need to chmod to allow me to change the settings. I've tried to chmod 777 the /home/mark/.thunderbird folder but it has no effect.

Alsi if anyone has been successful in downloading webmail to their computer can you please tell me if they used the thunderbird addon or another program such as freepops or hotwayd? ( i cant find good documentation on either but i've managed to make thunderbird work on windows)

Hi Maverick1182,

All files related to thunderbird are located here (System):-

locate thunderbird | grep usr

If you want to install some plugin into thunderbird , I think you must have root access(Not sure)

Also chmod 777 may be a security threat.
Hope this will not misguide you
