locate -i j2sdk
warning: locate: warning: database /var/lib/slocate/slocate.db' is more than 8 days old

this is the mess i get whenever i try to run the command
tell me how to resolve th eproblem

It's telling you to update your database so do 'updatedb'. You can set that as a cron job so that it will do it every night at 3AM or once a week or something if you want.

Before I do a search:
#cd /
#locate -u (this updates the database for the whole filesystem)
#locate %whateveryouneed%

Wow, wouldn't that make every search you do pretty long?
