Question locate - move - rename 40000+ images ?

Hi crowd out there

I have tons of images in many different folders that I want to all get in one place to be able to properly & quickly organize.

Ive run Picasa (BTW has yet to crash - solid - well done WINE !) & its picked up like 10000 at least but there are image formats like png & gif missing & its okay for looking at but useless for working with .

I.e. I will not run Picasa if I can organise all photos once properly & edit with any tool not just a photo management prog.

So ATM Id like to throw all images there are on my two disks into one directory with automatic renaming.

How do I locate + copy [and or] move + automatic rename of vaguely 40000 images to a new folder ?

Seems like the perfect thing for combining command line tools to do something assume 8) .

THX for any feedback .

find <start directory> -iname "<all my files type>" -exec cp {} <target_dir> \; To move all the files of your wanting to a single directory. And heres a link to google search for renaming all of them http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search
