Question locate fuxx0red

Hi

Running Mandrake 9.1

and having problems finding files... now I know you could use either slocate or locate and that as root you're supposed to updatedb or whatever, but I just can't seem to find any of the files I need to find...

Any ideas?

Try using a subset of the filename, e.g. for "MPlayer" try "layer". You'll get a longer list but will avoid the problem of case-sensitivity.

See,

what happens, is like if I were to look for wine I would never find all the wine dirs and so forth, but maybe a few reference docs in share/docs/ or something...

I'm not sure if even slocate and locate are the prorams to use to do what i'm trying to do (find any all and all refers to search string)

Does that make any sense?

Indeed, check that. Remeber that Linux is case-sensitive
