Local Exp/Import Android phone contacts

Is there a program to export and import Android contacts to csv in my Linux machine? I can’t find anywhere in the phone functions to generate a csv copy of contacts (Contacts offering to export to vcf in some directory I can’t access). I’ll try command-lines if someone can help, but I would also like to load a GUI. Is there anything that would facilitate editing the active data set from Linux, or would edits always be done on a csv copy and then imported/loaded back to the active data on the phone?

This is about name and phone #s, as I hardly access email on my phone.

You will have to do that from your phone, with an appropriate app. Take a look here:

All of them are likely to work, you just have to choose based on your preferences. Personally, I always avoid apps that require permissions that I don't like.

Thank you lucmove. Is that more of a security feature or a Google control grab?
(that one can't access and convert raw contact data from their Linux machine)

It is possible to connect to your phone over SSH (you need to install an SSH server on the phone first) and browse your files. But then how do you access the contacts? I have no idea. Maybe it's possible, but I wouldn't know. So you use the contact exporting app to export your contacts to a CSV file, then you transfer that file to the computer, either over SSH, or a USB cable or on a memory card.

There used to be pre-Android era Linux applications that could connect to certain phones and sync data, but I don't know if they still exist, I mean, I don't know if they will play ball with Android.
