Local Area Storge?? How to???

I have a Gateway Notebook with a Belkin Ethernet Card and it's actually very old. While, i don't really want to throw it away. So, i had setup my old notebook as a local area storage computer and i had setup easily in window xp pro, my desktop.

But i happens to wanting to do the same thing in linux.
So, i could see my local storage through linux. I had get my 3com ethernet 100 card work and i could actually ping my gateway with no problem!
And what's the next thing?? for me to set it up?
My gateway's ip address was 192.168.0.1
My desktop's ip address was 192.168.0.231

any idea?

You mean you want the notebook to be a file server? You can use samba to do that.

Check out the samba howto and the networking howto on www.tldp.org. Very useful. They're a very good place to start. Then we can help troubleshoot if anything goes wrong.
