"Loading virtual machine" bitlet.org stops here

Hi,
I'm trying to use www.bitlet.org to download a file.
When I start the download it says "Loading virtual machine" and stays there till I close the window. It never goes farther. I am running Fedora 8 on x86-32 machine. I tried the default java installed with Fedora 8 first.

'java -version' gives
java version "1.7.0"
IcedTea Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-b21)
IcedTea Client VM (build 1.7.0-b21, mixed mode)

Then I installed Sun Java jdk1.6.0_06
made sure the path was right
then I logged out and back into Xwindows

running 'java -version' gives now gives
java version "1.6.0_06"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_06-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 10.0-b22, mixed mode, sharing)

I went to www.jgames.com and able to play an online java game there
so, I assume java is installed correctly. Both versions of java do the same thing, a window open and says "Loading virtual machine" and thats it.

There are no relevant messages in /var/log/messages

I did a google search for the error and found nothing that seemed to give an answer to the problem.

Any ideas on how to get bitlet running?

thank you,
Mike

Hello Mike,

could you try to take a look at the ff error console and at the java console?

Thanks, I did not think about the java console and did know about the ff error console.

The ff error console gives 2 errors, from first to last:

Error: Cc['@mozilla.org/url-classifier/jslib;1'] is undefined
Source File: file:///usr/lib/firefox-3.0b3pre/components/nsSafebrowsingApplication.js
Line: 2842

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/safebrowsing/sb-loader.js :: anonymous :: line 35" data: no]

I don't know what these mean.
I'm not sure about using the java console. I ran jcontrol, went to advanced and checked "show console" under java console, I figured it would not hurt. Then under debugging, I checked "enable tracing", "enable logging" and "show applet lifecycle exceptions". Maybe something there will help. I little about the JVM. What else can I do resolve this?

Mike
