Thumbs up SOLVED - Loading USB TV Decoder at boot

Hi guys,

I've got a Hauppauge NOVA-T-USB2 TV decoder which is working fine, but weirdly....

My PC is on duel boot with WinXP and OpenSUSE 10.2 - for this reason.... The decoder will not start if I boot straight into Linux (no power light and is not detected by OpenSUSE).

If I boot WinXP the power light comes on and then press restart and go into OpenSUSE the power light stays on and the device is detected and works fine.

I'm guessing there is some kernel module I need which loads during boot to power USB devices, but I don't know what it is (if I'm right that I need one at all).

Have any of you experienced this, know what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do?

Thanks in advance!

I sometimes have the same with my MyBook (external hdd). On my 64bit machine it works fine usually but on my 32bits machine it doesn't get loaded on boot time and it doesn't show up anywhere. But I usually fix it by turning it off and back on or just replug the cable in.

I use fedora 7 btw but it is strange ...

Thanks for replying.

That doesn't work for me. Windows is the only way at the moment.

Thumbs up

I've got it!

I needed to download the firmware and put it in /lib/firmware/kernalxx.xx.xx ..... and hey-presto, the light came on!
