loading software on cygwin linux


Tried to load program on cygwin linux.
Having problems. I have a dell laptop inspiron b130
Using windows xp. Used the following procedure:
# tar xvzf package.tar.gz (or tar xvjf package.tar.bz2) works
# cd package works
# ./configure does not work
# make cmd not recognize
# make install cmd not recognize

What am I doing wrong ?

presumably you've not installed the right software via setup.exe you've not even said what you mean by "does not work" though...

Is the software you are trying to install being ported to cygwin?

and yes check your setup.exe, you forgot to add stuff there.
