Loading Mandrake Linux 10.1, Won't boot
I'm still unable to load Mandrake Linux 10.1 to my computer. The disk won't boot. In the process, Win ME messed up and I had to load that again. That disk downloaded just fine so I know my CDrom works. But when I put in the MD Linux disk, it just sits there. No lights come on the CDrom at all.
I'm using: CDrom - Atapi CDwriter IDE5224
Could this be incapable with Linux?
This is very strange.
For a refresh of what I've done so far:
I change the boot sequence to boot with CDrom first. I've tried using disk 2 and disk 3 to boot. I've even tried to open "boot" and I just get the blue screen with the labels 1 through 6 on there. Some work and open to the Mandrake web site. The ones I want to work won't open.
Please HELP....

So you have the .iso downloaded and burned on the CD (you might need to set the type to iso when you burn it sometimes). Cause your configuration is ok, booting with the CD first and it should load the setup. Otherwise I think your CD might be broken. Maybe you could check the MD5 sums

I bought the CD's so I didn't burn any of them. I'm very new to all of this so please excuse my questions.... BUT.... you said:
***you might need to set the type to iso when you burn it sometimes***
What do you mean...???? I'm lost!
****Maybe you could check the MD5 sums****
Again, I don't know what you mean can you explain this to me?
Another thing, since I have the MD Linux 3 CD set... can anyone tell me how many files I'm suppose to have on each CD. Maybe that's the problem... If so, I can send them back. I just want to do everything I can before sending these back and waiting for a new set.
Thank you

If you've bought them they should be OK and my answers don't apply (only f you downloaded and burned them yourself). And your settings are OK too so it's a mystery to me why it doesn't start the setup when you reboot wiith the first disc in your CDplayer.
