Loading KDE instead of GNOME
I am using Fedora 3, which comes with both GNOME and KDE. By default it loads GNOME. How can I change this default to KDE?
One guy suggested modifying the windowsmanager config file. It appears that Fedora uses another file as that one doesn't exist on my system. |
Open the terminal and write:
switchdesk if it fails because you don't have a GUI package install http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat...6-3.noarch.rpm then do it again. Should do the trick... |
am also a noob.
but try doin this when u get a login screen , there will a option ot the bottom called SESSION click there .. and select KDE as ur default session. try it out. |
Cheers guys. I know I can change desktop once I'm at either the GNOME desktop or the logon screen. What I'm trying to do is avoid what you both suggest. i.e. get KDE to be the default desktop rather than GNOME.

The switchdesk utility is for setting the default desktop. If you want gnome to load as default don't change a thing. If you want KDE just use the utility and set KDE as default, and you want the default to stay gnome but want to load with KDE for one session the on the logon screen use the session menu to set the current session only. Other than that I don't have any more options. |
