Talking live video streaming

since we are so badly served for video chat by the main providers (yahoo, aim), does anyone know of a software able to serve a audio video stream accessible from any web browser ? I'd just have to give my ip adress to anyone I'd like to chat with.

Of course, if it was multiplatform (not all my friends use Linux) it'd be super duper cool.

I have never used it...but I have heard that gnomemeeting allows you to video conference with whatever the windows version is. I don't think it is web-browser enabled though...
