Live cd to > main os?

Ok this is going to be a really stupid question possibly. But is there anyway i can take a live cd, and basically turn it into my main os? just like set up the partitions?

I just got the distro backtrack2 and i have to admit its what ive always wanted.

I hope its possible.

thanks

- Jon

I don't understand, there seems to be a contradiction in your post:

You want it as your main distro, but don't want to install it as it is?
Does this mean you want to 'change' something about how it functions, BEFORE installing it?
Please clarify

The easiest way to install LiveCD to hard drive is usually following the procedure that distribution system recommends.. Well, usually it is possible to do it by "just copying and checking it doesn't look for CD anymore and editing bootloader settings", but then you have to prepare partitions anyway, and do the work of installer manually. Usually it takes more than one effort.
And LiveCD promises to have an installer which will readily prepare installed system for you while making it as similar to LiveCD as distribution maintainers have managed.

I'm confused.. However: If you want to install this distro, you basically do the same thing you did when you put SuSE on your machine.
Read the instructions that are probably contained within the LiveCD, for installing it to the hard drive.
Some LiveCD's are not readily prepared to be installed permanently, but most can be.
You need to make a partition to install it to, then read the instructions, and install it.
