Little Help with Wine

Basically, Im a dumbass, who doesnt know crap about computers but has a passionate hate for windows. Ive been using windows for a long time but i switched to ubuntu a few weeks ago. Anyway I would love to get some programs that I had on windows, such as utorrent and foobar2000. So I was wondering where or how do I get wine? Keep in mind, Im really bad in computers, so i need like a step by step instruction. I know Im just a moron and should just stick with windows but I cant. As I said, I hate it with a passion.

The easiest and most reliable way with the greatest chance of it working is to buy a copy of crossover office from www.codeweavers.com

It's cheap and it makes it nice and easy to install win apps. The money goes back into wine developement with the goal of making most win apps run on linux in the future. It's easy to install and configure and has a nice gui setup.

You can also download a free 30 day functional demo to test it out, and that will let you know if the apps you want will run - so nothing to lose. If the apps won't run with crossover, then they won't run with free wine either...

okay. You'll have to open a terminal window and type something like

sh ./install-crossover-pro-5.0.0.sh

I think it brings up a gui installer. It may require you to be root user. I can't remember, but it will tell you...

You have to cd to the directory to which you downloaded it.The cd command means change directory. You will have to change your directory to where the file is it should look something like this

cd /home/user/Desktop this is only if you downloaded it to your desktop though

The ./install-crossover-pro-5.0.0.sh means in this directory run install-crossover-pro-5.0.0.sh. What amosf gave you is another way but it is incorrect. The correct way is sh install-crossover-pro-5.0.0.sh.

Linux does not speak extenision like DOS/Windows does. Linux speak in permissions. There are read, write, execute, suid, and guid.
