Lists and out of office messages

Hey there -

I am running a mailman 2.1.15 server with postfix and am trying to cut down on the number of out of office messages from members of the list.

The typical behavior is that a message will be sent and then the out-of-office message will come back with a "From: mailman-loop@example.com on behalf of John Doe".

I've looked around and there seems to be varying responses on how best to handle this...whether at the individual list level...or whether it can be handled at all if a client has a badly behaved email client responder.

Thanks for any advice.

Is this a list to which all members can post? Or an outgoing list only?
If the Out of Office messages come from a non-member, mailman should queue them up for review by the list admin. Is that what's happening?
