lirc and a Hauppauge PVR 250 Remote

Hi Guys,
I've just got a new PVR 250 Card installed, and the card works fine and i've followed all the instructions on getting the remote working, but for some reason when I start lircd with the conf file that lirc and all the tutorial say should work with my remote, lircd-g.conf the buttons mapped to my remote aren't right with 8 moving the cursor up and various other buttons doing other stuff and some doing none at all.
So i tried irrecord but that failed saying a gap haddn't been detected, so im sort of at a loss at what to do.

My remote version is R808-HPG-S so if anyone else has had similar problems, and has any idea, please let me know.

Thanks a lot
Tom
