Question lirc's mode2 produces no output under Mandrake 10

LIRC will start without errors, but every time I run "mode2 -d /dev/lirc/0", there will be no output when I press remote control buttons.

The remote I am using is a Sony RM-U305, but this is included in the list of supported remotes, so this cannot be the problem.

The receiver I'm using is a little home-brew receiver I soldered together; my first guess was that I wired something wrong. But I can get winLIRC working properly, so this cannot be problem.

I made sure to follow the directions at www [dot] mandrake [dot] tips [dot] 4 [dot] free [dot] fr/lirc.html to the letter and I do not know what the problem with my setup is.

My computer is running Mandrake 10.0 if that is relevant in anyway.

Aaah! It won't let me post a URL!

EDIT: Should I have posted this in the Hardware forum?
