Linux Windows virus scanners?

I think my XP partition got shafted - when I'm running XP I get a message from Norton asking if I want to block some program from accessing the Net on all ports, and then I get some thing that says "Your Computer is Infected! Click here" or something to that effect and I'm afraid to click it because it might be a virus.

Anyways, I was wondering, since my Linux partition is fine, are there any Linux virus scanners that can scan at Windows partitions for virii?

Virus!@#%%$**

Yes there is,

Try this:

aegis-virus-scanner

Not sure if you can tell it to scan the windows partition but it is a starting point.

use synaptic if you are running a Debian system or this site if not:

I use BitDefender to scan my shares. You may have a problem writing to an XP partition if its NTFS. So you may be able to find malware, but removal may be dangerous.

Sounds like spyware/adware - try running adaware on it

IIRC Linux can safely edit files on an NTFS partition, it just can't edit them.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot!

Rethink that one

As of 2.6.15, linux can (reasonably) safely write files to NTFS partitions without worrying about not changing the file size etc.

Oops - not what I meant. . . it was kinda late when I wrote that.
I meant that Linux can't create new files in NTFS.
