Linux+Windows NT
I installed Linux along with NT workstation and made it boot through boot disk. I then copied bootsect.lnx peeling the boot image from the boot floopy but when I select Linux entry in the osloader options I get an error message L 80 80 80 ....
my boot partition is hda6 and my root partition is hda8 what shall i do to make the Os loader load Linux? :smash: |
That's Lilo telling you it can't start the second stage bootloader, probably because it can't find /boot/boot.b on your disk. This could be due to it misinterpreting your drive geometry, or perhaps it just didn't install correctly. You'll need to boot with your floppy or CD, get to /etc/lilo.conf, and post the contents here so we can get a better idea of what lilo is thinking.

Thank you Mr.DMR.
I am not able to find the lilo.conf either in the etc dir in boot floppy or in the etc dir in the hard disk, what shall I Do? The capacity of my hard disk is 10 GB. I had divided it into 3 partitions before installing linux. When I decided to install linux I deleted the third partition and then started to install linux. After installation I find my 2 existing partitions intact, The boot partition is in hda6 and root in hda8 suggest me the next steps........... |
