Linux VPN Software - How to Connect to a Windows VPN
Hey everyone,

I have a linux machine that I will be using to connect to my work VPN. The VPN is controlled by a Symantec Firewall/VPN box and our Windows Machines use the Symantec Client VPN to connect to the VPN Box.

I was curious how I can do this with Linux. Is there an opensource VPN software I can use? also, is it possible to do a remote desktop connection to a Windows machine via Linux?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I have setup a point-to-point IPSec VPN connection between a sonicwall device and a linux router/'s not so straightforward. As for just a client (either IPSec or PPTP), I know I've come across these while researching the p-t-p vpn. First you need to determine your VPN type (IPSec or PPTP), then star the search there.

As for remote desktop, use the rdesktop command. You may need to download the rdesktop package, but it works very nicely...(i.e. rdekstop hostname) also has a -f switch for fullscreen.

Thanks for your reply! I'm happy to know its possible.

We have an IKE vpn tunnel (ike_default_crypto).
