Linux Voicemail Applications

I recently ran across a Windoz program that allows you to send Voice Messages in your email, it's called TalktheTalk. and I am wondering if there is a similar program for Linux. It does not require the recipient to have a chat client or anything like that. You just record your message, I guess, I haven't used the TalktheTalk program, attach it to your email, and send it. The recipient opens the attachment and can listen to your message.

I don't know if there is but it should be easy to script it if there ain't: just record sound, save to file with usable extension depending on purpose, compression, then attach to e-mail message.

Thanks unSpawn but I don't know how to do all that. I'm running Mepis Linux with KDE. If you felt like posting a step by step I would appreciate it and give it a try. I would think there is some Linux program out there that might fill the bill. Maybe I'll get some more replies. I have yet to try the Mepis forums.

No, I don't have any steps for this. You should be able to find a sound recorder in your desktop environment (Audacity?) or install it.
