Linux version of BSD's Jail

Hi all,

I wonder if there is a linux version of Jail. I hope so. Chroot is not enough. Just in theorem. I want to provide custom hosting plans for companies or individuals and they tell me what to install for them on their server and after that they can maintain it if they want to. So avoid the high costs of separate servers I thought a Jailed environment would be perfect. Now comes the question. Is there a way to run multiple kernels on a single machine at the same time as if I was using some kinda VM like VMWare or Qemu? I know that there is one that can load linux kernels I just don't know what is that. Lol... I hope it is kinda clear for you and you can help me.

Perect... That is what I was looking for. Is there any other alternatives? I would like to see all the possibilities and compare them so that I can choose the right one.

I think I will answer my own question now.
Here is VServer that :
Quote:
uses this fact to allow several distributions, to be run simultaneously on a single, shared kernel, without direct access to the hardware, and share the resources in a very efficient way.

That said, you may have already figured out that Linux-VServer uses Operating System-level virtualization ;-)
Ok... I will let you know 2 more versions of the software I was looking for:
Xen
User-mod-linux
It seems that Xen is a very efficient way to do what I wanted. Now I will try to benchmark both to see which one is faster. I would be happy if others would do this so that we can compare the results on different comps.
