Linux software port for Debian\Mint driver HP SDLT 320 Tape Drive

Not sure if this is a hardware or software forum question. Just got (free) an HP SDLT 320 tape drive and want to play. I have the scsi card but need to know if anyone knows of debian\mint flavor drivers. HP has RH and SUSE ports but not Debian. Thanks for nay ideas.

My very wild guess would be that the device could be used like any older tape.

The tools on a rpm or yum or tgz might install. Just watch for dependencies.

From rpm.

echo "NOTE:"
echo "UNABLE TO DETECT IF L&TT IS SUPPORTED ON THIS VERSION OF LINUX. "
echo "L&TT MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY IF INSTALLED. TO CONTINUE INSTALLATION RUN"
echo "'install_hpltt' WITH THE '-force' OPTION."

You may not need those tools for basic tasks by the way. Tape commands have been available for decades and should still control that device. (well, maybe.)
