Linux Software

I've installed SuSe linux 7.3 and everything went smooth. Now I'm trying to install software on my computer and when ever I try to install the software I get this message.

"The SuSE release number on the CD 2 differs from the number found on your harddisk. Please insert the CD 2 which matches the release of your harddisk installation or press "Skip" to continue.

If you do want to install packages from the CD currently in the drive, you will have to finish off this installation first, and restart later with the first CD of the respective set."

I have all the cd's and i've tryed it on each one and I get the same message. Can someone please help me with this problem!
Thanks

Are you sure the cd is OK? There might be the problem.

Naw... I get the same complaints from YaST2 consistently. I installed via the CD-ROM set and then copied the DVD to our fileserver. Now I can do fresh installs via NFS, but they all give the same message when running YaST2. Pressing <Skip> works fine for me.

I've never actually looked into the problem, but nod to rshaw for digging up that one. Gonna give it a go tomorrow.

I just did an install of SuSE 7.3 Sparc, and received the same complaint.. "..CD number differs..". This is a home burn, that I did not make myself, so I cant attest that it was made correctly.

But yes, just select SKIP and all is well..

The question that comes to mind, is :
Are (we) the people having problems all using home burns, or real SUSE silver pressings?

I woonder if this is a CD burn issue. Can anyone find anything on this on the SuSE site? If it occurred on every SuSE CD shiped, seems like it would have gotten a mention somewhere..

(and BTW, this is a pretty (very) unhelpful thread title.. next time maybe something like:
"SuSE 7.3 sparc install bug" ??)

this from the suse ftp mirror in Atlanta (lending credence that home-burn CDs are being un-wisedly renamed:

I found an entire thread on this exact same situation on the suse-sparc mailing list:
